My career and professional interest led me to gain experience in the field of humanitarian relief and development. I started my career after high school as a field level pre-hospital care provider and was able to gain knowledge through experience and training in national and international disciplines as a volunteer and a career professional. I have extensive experience as a trainer and a tutor for the past 14 years and have also worked in national and international settings. I am certified by national and international professional bodies as an Instructor for emergency management trainings and have created training programs in different disciplines. I have proven my ability to work under difficult conditions and diverse groups by working in the two worst disasters Sri Lanka has ever faced. During Tsunami 2004 I was able to organize a volunteer emergency Medical response group of twenty volunteers within twenty minutes from impact and continued the services in Galle District until definitive care was established. During the 2009 internally displaced peoples situation I managed two field hospitals and the emergency medical service response on behalf of Medical Teams International serving the temporary population of seven hundred thousand. I have worked in both field and managerial levels in emergency medical services and disaster management sectors in humanitarian relief and development fields.
